Archbishop Marcel Damphousse has established a new pastoral unit (August 1, 2024) joining St. Columban and St. Francis de Sales Parishes. He indicated that both parishes would remain independent, each with its own Finance Council, traditions, and parish-specific celebrations, but share one Pastoral Council. The pastoral care of both parishes was first led by Msgr. Kevin Maloney, followed by Fr. Dan Van Delst & Fr. Steven Gaudet. The current pastoral team includes Fr. Jonathan Blake, pastor, assisted by Fr. John Onmeje Ogbaje.
Some of the details of the pastoral unit included that the Sunday Mass schedule would remain unchanged in both parishes. However, the weekday Mass schedule did change. Weekday Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:00 a.m., and at St. Columban on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the First Saturday of the month at 8:00 a.m. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place at St. Francis on the First Friday of the month from 7:00 a.m. until the 8:00 a.m. Mass.
The Confession schedule remains the same, with confessions at St. Columban from 2:30–3:30 p.m. and at St. Francis from 3:30–4:30 p.m. Funerals and weddings may be celebrated at either parish according to family preference. A new combined Pastoral Council was formed with members from both parishes to support unity and collaboration within the pastoral unit. Parishioners are encouraged to work together in embracing the Church’s mission to proclaim the Gospel. Appreciation is expressed to past and present Parish Council members for their faithful service, with prayers offered for the success of this new pastoral venture.
